South Island of New Zealand struck by a 7.5 earthquake
UPDATE 9 January 2017:
We want to thank everyone who's provided a helping hand and support since the earthquake last November.
Our Cellar Door is open and all operations have returned to normal.
We hope to see you at Yealands Estate soon!
The Yealands Team
As a quick update after this morning’s earthquake, we are all safe and currently doing a bit of clean-up and assessment down at the winery. There was some damage as you would expect, but the team onsite are doing a great job at getting things in order and pushing ahead to get us back up and running as quickly as possible. Our priority continues to be family and safety and we will try to keep everyone posted on any new updates as they come in. We thank you for all the kind words and support and look forward to raising a glass with you all very soon.
Thank you very much,
Yealands Family Wines
Dear Friends and Customers,
As many of you may have heard by now, the South Island of New Zealand was struck by a 7.5 around 12:02 am this morning. The epicentre was near Hanmer Springs in North Canterbury in the South Island.
We are extremely grateful that everyone in our immediate family is safe and unharmed. While there is some damage at the winery, the winery building withstood the conditions well, as it was designed to do. It remains closed for safety reasons while the damage is being assessed and cleaned.
For the time being, all operations are off-line and communication is limited. We will post regular updates to our facebook and Twitter pages (Yealands Estate Wine / @yealands), and will endeavour to get things back on-line and operational as soon as is safely possible.
We thank you in advance for your kindness and understanding during this time. Many of you have made contact to extend kind words and it’s very much appreciated. Our priorities at this time continue to be our families, and the safety and well-being of our team, followed by the assessment and clean-up of our winery operations.
